Position: Director of Finance and Administration
Introduction:
Global Solutions for Infectious Diseases (GSID) is a non-profit global health organization engaged in the development of diagnostic and preventive tools for infectious diseases, including HIV. The Director of Finance and Administration will be a member of the management team and share responsibility for the overall growth of the organization. The position will work with the Managing Director (Deputy Executive Director) and the management team in developing and maintaining the financial and administrative systems that will support and further the success of the organization.
Major functions and responsibilities are:
Financial Accounting and Reporting:
- Develop accounting procedures and internal controls
- Supervise the processing of accounts payable, payroll and billings
- Supervise general ledger and fixed assets accounting procedures
- Prepare periodic financial statements
- Prepare annual federal, state and local income tax and informational returns
- Oversee the selection and the activities of an independent auditor
Treasury and Risk Management:
- Manage cash and investment accounts
- Oversee GSID’s business insurance program
Program Operations:
- Develop and maintain a program cost accounting system
- Develop budget submissions for grant and project proposals
- Develop and maintain indirect cost rates
- Monitor program and organizational budgets
- Prepare periodic donor-required grant reports
Administrative Functions:
- Serve as corporate secretary and coordinate GSID’s governance practices
- Support HR administration as needed
- Administer the 401(k) plan and other employee benefit plans
Required Experience
Candidate must have 12-15 years of experience in financial and project accounting in the life sciences sector, preferably at the controllership or Director of Finance level. Experience in the non-profit sector would be a plus. The ideal candidate should also have direct experience or have a good working knowledge of administrative management functions including: risk management, corporate governance and employee benefit plans. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting.
